DRPP PRINT COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY

1- Entrant must have captured and created the original exposure or exposures.

2- All processing, manipulation and printing or rendering, were done by the entrant or under their direct supervision.

3- The entrant’s name shall not appear anywhere in or on the face of the entry.

4- A maximum of four entries may be submitted per entrant.

5- No entry will be eligible if it has been made under the supervision of an instructor or as a class assignment. All images submitted must be self-directed. Images created in an educational environment under direct supervision from an instructor are ineligible.

6- Any entry that has been created from an existing photograph, portrait graphic or any other artwork produced by another person is in a violation of the competition rules and will not be judged, accepted, or displayed.

7- No two entries shall be of the same subject in any one print competition.

8- Once an image has been awarded a score of 80 or more in any category of DRPP competition, it may not be entered again in any other category, at any time, by any entrant.

DRPP PRINT ENTRIES

  1. – Entries my be submitted on either a 16×20” or 20×24” standard mount board. (Double weight mat board, gator board, 1/4” foam or Sintra). Recommended thickness 1/8 to 3/8”.
  2. Images displayed on board must be a minimum of 80 square inches to a maximum of 320 square inches on a 16×20. Images displayed on the larger 20×24” board can be as large as 480 square inches. Length” x Width” = Square inches. Example an 8×10 = 80 square inches.
  3. – “Float” mounting is accepted at entrant’s risk for damage. Images on metal and mounted to another standard material must have rounded corners and smooth edges. No mount that could potentially damage other entries or pose a danger to print handlers will be accepted. Masonite, glass, stretcher frames or conventional frames will not be accepted.
  4. – No material may be added to the front or back of an entry that may damage another entry.

DRPP CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS:

PORTRAIT / SOCIAL EVENTS

In this category, images can portray a subject or subjects from all walks of life and should reflect the personality of the subject(s). The Portrait category includes families, groups, couples and adults, relationships, models and fashion portraits, in addition to tastefully artistic figure studies.

Animals – this sub-category captures an animal(s) portrait using structured lighting in a studio or outdoor environment, where the animal is controlled by the owner or the photographer.

Social Events – Images created at or in connection to the event. Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Communions, and Celebrations fall under this category.

ILLUSTRATIVE

Capturing the beauty of nature, wildlife, industry and architectural areas is considered illustrative. Illustrative covers Landscapes, Nature, and Commercial.

Landscape/Nature – The illustrative category shares joy and adventures while expressing a sense of place. Wild animals in an uncontrolled lighting environment, flowers, seascapes, cityscapes, urban landscapes, and sunsets with or without people can be placed here.

Commercial – this sub-category is used when images are created for a commercial client to advertise a product and promote a brand or company. This can be an interior or exterior of a structure or within an industrial environment. Illustrative can also be conceptual images that tell a story.

REGISTRATION RULES

All entries must be registered no later than 6:00 pm two (2) days prior to the competition. You must email our print chairman – Eli Sloves with the following information for each entry.

LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, TITLE, CATEGORY ( Portrait/Social Event or Illustrative), M or N (member or non-member)

Include the above information on the back of each print entry. Indicate the print orientation with an up-arrow.

On the night of the competition, bring your prints to the DRPP conference room between 6 – 6:45 pm, and place them on the table on the appropriate pile. There will be a sign for each category.
